I have had many emails on mounts for the GoPro HD Hero to a Go-Kart. I suggest that you use either just a simple adhesive mount (even though you may think they are weak) or the bicycle handle Bar mount available here. I have a video of the sticky mounted GoPro to prove to you that it is actually quite good. The video is available in Full Hd 1080p here and a video of the handle bar mount here.

G'day mate. Are either of these ways of mounting the GoPro given the okay by AKA? What's their regulations on camera mounting?

Both of these mounts are legal by the AKA. The only illegal mounts are helmet mounts, body mounts (eg. chest mount) and and a camera mount in such a way that it obscures vision of the number of your kart (on the nassau panel)
